Natural Resources and Parks Month
WHEREAS, the King County region features stunning natural beauty, with breathtaking views of majestic mountains, expansive forests and vast waterways that weave together to form a remarkable tapestry of scenic wonders; and
WHEREAS, our ancestors and the first residents of this region have looked forward to October, which marks the time of year when Northwest salmon make their return to the rivers, streams and tributaries of their youth, spawning to create the future generations of salmon that will amaze future generations; and
WHEREAS, to allow the residents of King County the opportunity to take full advantage of our regions dramatic natural marvels, the King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks operates many facilities that allow those living in the Puget Sound the chance to experience our regions remarkable outdoors; and
WHEREAS, to protect and defend the awe-inspiring natural beauty of the Puget Sound region, the King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks offers a wide variety of services, tools, programs and events to educate King County residents about ways to guard our region’s spectacular physical wonders for future generations; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ron Sims, King County Executive, do hereby recognize October 2004 as
