Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
WHEREAS, the fabric and foundation of King County is enriched by the diversity of cultures and traditions represented by the residents of this great region; and
WHEREAS, as a result of their determination, intelligence, hard work and perseverance, community members of Asian Pacific Islander ancestry have contributed immensely to the growth and stability of our region, helping to shape the character and development of King County; and
WHEREAS, encompassing many histories, languages and diverse cultures while sharing common American experiences, Asian Pacific Americans have achieved exceptional success in all aspects of society including business, politics, education, community service, arts and sciences; and
WHEREAS, each year the month of May is celebrated as Asian Pacific American Heritage Month to pay tribute to the innumerable contributions and rich cultural heritage of Asian Pacific Islander communities throughout our nation; and
WHEREAS, in honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, a variety of community celebrations planned throughout the month will include cultural, artistic, educational, and historical activities;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ron Sims, King County Executive, do hereby proclaim the month of May 2004 to be
