This summer King County Parks "Your Big Backyard" is pulling out all the stops to bring must-see entertainment events.

Take it to the extreme at the first-annual Demolition Derby and Rollover Contest at the 144th King County Fair in Enumclaw, or take an active role in King County's battle against invasive weeds along Issaquah Creek or Cedar River as a "weed warrior" park volunteer. Looking to relax? Head on over to Marymoor Park for an outdoor concert and a movie or two.

Here are details on some King County Parks events occurring July 19 through Aug. 2:

King County’s Marymoor Park

July 19 – Open seating at 7 p.m. Movie begins at dusk
First Tech Movies presents "Office Space"

Mike Judge, creator of "Beavis and Butthead" and "King of the Hill," brings his hilarious interpretation of contemporary office culture to the big screen. With kooky characters and unforgettable one-liners, this cult classic keeps audiences laughing. Seating is on the grass, so bring low-backed chairs or blankets. Admission is free and donations are accepted.

July 26 – Open seating at 7 p.m. Movie begins at dusk
First Tech Movies presents "Field of Dreams"

"If you build it, he will come." This is the ethereal message that inspires Iowa farmer Ray Kinsella (Kevin Costner) to construct a baseball diamond in the middle of his Iowa cornfield upon which appear the ghosts of Chicago Black Sox players banned from the sport for throwing the 1919 World Series. Whether seeing it for the first time or the 100th time, the emotional impact of this classic film never fades. Seating is on the grass, so bring low-backed chairs or blankets. Admission is free and donations are accepted.

August 1 and 2 – 6 p.m.
U.S. Bank Concerts at Marymoor presents String Cheese Incident
Marymoor Amphitheater

Jam-band String Cheese Incident brings its unique, bluegrass influenced sound to Marymoor Park for two evenings of unforgettable tunes. Ticket prices are $33 and are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, or online at www.ticketmaster.com.

July 19, 24, 26, 31 and August 2
Monday and Wednesday Night Racing
Group Health Velodrome

The Monday and Wednesday Night Racing series develops bike racers for the Friday Night Racing series, presented by Group Health. The Monday series is designed for juniors and new bike racers, while the Wednesday series offers masters-only races. Spectator admission is free. Racing starts at 7 p.m. on Mondays, and 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. For more information, visit www.velodrome.org on the Internet.

July 21 and 28 – 7:30 p.m.
Group Health Friday Night Track Racing
Group Health Velodrome

The Group Health Friday Night Track Racing series, "The Show," is thrilling action for racers and spectators alike. World-class cyclists compete under the lights, while family and friends picnic on the lawn or enjoy the view from the stands. The traditional "Kiddie Kilo" happens the first and third Fridays of each month. Spectator admission is $4 for adults and free for kids 16 and under. King County Fairgrounds – Enumclaw

60th annual Pacific Northwest Scottish Highland Games and Clan Gathering

Experience the traditions and culture of Scotland without even renewing a passport. The 60th annual Pacific Northwest Scottish Highland Games and Clan Gathering at the King County Fairgrounds in Enumclaw features traditional celebrations of Scottish arts, culture, piping, dance and athletic competitions. White Center

July 22-23 – 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
White Center Jubilee Days

An official Seafair event, this fun-filled weekend offers activities for everyone. Come enjoy great music, food, a carnival, children’s entertainment, a car show, parade, golf tournament, street fair and a street dance. The fun is located on 16th Avenue Southwest, between Southwest Roxbury and Southwest 100th streets in White Center. For more information, call 206-243-0290.

Weyerhaeuser-King County Aquatic Center – Federal Way

July 18-22
USA Swimming/Speedo Champions Swimming Series

Six hundred of the top swimmers in the western U.S. are coming to King County to compete in this five-day championship. Hosted by the King Aquatic Club, the local, nationally-ranked team, the event is expected to feature records fall as swimmers try to qualify for the national and international competitions. Five Mile Lake Park – Federal Way

July 29 – 7:30 a.m.
Federal Escape Triathlon

Thanks to the success of the 2005 competition, the Federal Escape Triathlon is now the Northwest qualifier for the 2007 Triathlon National Age Group Championship. Featuring courses for seasoned athletes, beginners and children, this running, swimming and biking event is hosted by TriFREAK.com. Volunteer Events

July 19 and 26 – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Invasive Weed Removal
Various locations

"Weed Warriors" are needed to remove invasive weeds that are restricting the growth of young native trees and plants in restoration project areas. Work sites include Bear and Issaquah creeks and the Green and Cedar rivers. This fun and rewarding opportunity is a great way to get school community service hours. Private work parties preferring to meet at a different time can be arranged for businesses or school groups.

July 22 - 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Red Town Meadow Restoration
Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park

Volunteer for the Red Town Meadow Project at Cougar Mountain to reestablish a small meadow at the site of an historic ballpark in Red Town. The work site is located three miles east of Newcastle, and work includes weeding, mulching and planting.
