The Division of Environmental Health Services (DEHS) is part of the Office of Environmental Health and Engineering , in the Indian Health Service, (Both links will open a new window) Office of Public Health.

We are the Sanitarians, Environmental Health Specialists, Environmental Health Technicians, Health Care Safety Officers, Institutional Environmental Health Officers, and Injury Prevention Specialists. We provide environmental health consultation to American Indian and Alaskan Native tribal governments and Indian Health Service programs.

The "Contact Us" portion of this site provides contact information for DEHS Directors in the staff in the IHS Area Office's; it also has a link to help locate the 250 DEHS staff members throughout IHS. Visit the "Area Programs" location of this page to find links to specific Area and local programs.

Environmental Health Activities The work of DEHS covers a wide variety of public health services and is divided into 3 programmatic areas: General Environmental Health, Community Injury Prevention, and Institutional Environmental Health. The "Programs" section of this site contains information on the work we do. The Injury Prevention and Institutional Environmental Health programs maintain websites that contain information and resources on their programs.

Ongoing activities and administrative resources are also contained on this site. The "Calendar" contains scheduled training courses, conference calls, and other program activities. The "Jobs/Internships" location contains information on DEHS vacancies, job application resources, Internship opportunities, and recent intern reports.
