National Cemetery Administration handles records related to the construction and administration of VA cemeteries, the furnishing of Government headstones or markers, the administration of the Presidential Memorial Certificate Program, and the issuance of grants to States for State veterans cemeteries.

Are you looking for information related to one of VA’s National Cemeteries? Go to http://www.cem.va.gov/cem/cems_nmc.asp.

Are you requesting the discharge documents or military personnel records of a deceased veteran?

NCA does not maintain these documents. Please contact the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC).

Our policy is not to release the social security numbers of deceased veterans. You may also contact NPRC for this information.

 

Would you like information on where a deceased veteran is buried?

NCA may have limited information on deceased veterans who are buried in VA national cemeteries or who have received Government-furnished headstones or markers.  Please visit our Nationwide Gravesite Locator.

 

If you cannot find the information you are seeking on our website, you should submit a FOIA request.

To avoid processing delays, requests should be submitted to the NCA Central Office.

Requests must be in writing, either handwritten or typed, and signed by the person submitting the request. They can be faxed or mailed, but they cannot be e-mailed.
