Law Enforcement Block Grant Program
Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program

The purpose of the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant program is to provide units of local government with funds for projects to reduce crime and improve public safety.  In accordance with LLEBG regulations, funds are available only to the state police and units of local government that do not receive a direct award from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA).  The federal government makes fund allocations based upon Part 1 crimes, as reported to the FBI.  Those jurisdictions that are eligible for $10,000 or over are awarded funds directly by BJA.  The remainder of the funds appropriated to the state are administered, as suggested by BJA, by the same agency that administers the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program.

The Criminal Justice Services Division (CJSD) of the Oregon Office of Homeland Security is responsible for administering and disbursing the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant funds for the State of Oregon.  These funds are available only to those general purpose units of local government who did not receive a direct award from BJA under this program.  The total amount of money to be distributed is $213,171.  Applications for 2004 Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Programs will be solicited in June 2005.
