ACS members and attendees gathered for robust technical programming in Philadelphia during the third week of August, including thematic programming around "Chemistry for Health: Catalyzing Translational Research." A total of 13,805 people (including 8,684 attendees and guests, 3,086 undergraduate and graduate students, 545 Expo-Only visitors, and 1,490 exhibitors in unaudited figures; final figures will be published in October 2008) participated in the meeting. The National Exposition, held on August 18-20, introduced attendees to a record number of exhibiting companies (355 exhibitors inside 511 booths).
