Superintendent Timothy F. McLain
Timothy F. McLain was appointed 10th Superintendent of the Department of Oregon State Police in January 2007.   Prior to his appointment, Superintendent McLain advanced through the ranks beginning in 1979, and has served as Lieutenant Colonel, District Commander of the Southern Region of Oregon, Commander of the Special Operations Unit, Lieutenant in the Criminal Division, and Patrol Sergeant.  He has worked extensively in the area of narcotics investigation, both undercover for the department as well as on various interagency teams and with ATF on federal investigations.
 
Superintendent McLain is a 1999 graduate of the FBI National Academy.  He is a member of the F.B.I. National Academy Associates of Oregon and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).
 
Superintendent McLain follows in the family tradition of law enforcement.  His father, Clyde McLain Sr., retired in 1982 as the Undersheriff for Linn County.  His oldest brother, Clyde McLain Jr., retired in 2000 as the Undersheriff for Crook County.  An older brother, Phil McLain, retired in 2002 as the Assistant Police Chief for Albany Police Department.  His son, Jered McLain, is an Oregon State Police Trooper currently assigned to the Springfield Patrol Office.
