Meet the Regional Commissioner |
|
Beatrice M. Disman became Regional Commissioner of
the Social Security Administration's New York Region in April 1995.
Ms. Disman brings a lifetime of leadership and public service experience to
a position which directs the operation of Social Security's programs in New
York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. As the
primary official in the New York Region, Ms. Disman is responsible for the
actions of more than 4,300 employees in 126 field
offices, two Social Security Card Centers, five teleservice centers, the Northeastern Program Service Center,
14 Offices of Disability
Adjudication and Review, nine state disability determination
sites, and the regional office support staff. She manages an annual
administrative budget of approximately 400 million dollars.
Over 6 million New York Region beneficiaries receive more than
63
billion dollars in Social Security retirement, disability and survivors
benefits as well as
Supplemental Security Income annually.
