    Overview:
    This activity was planned and produced in accordance with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education's Standards for Interpreting the Essentials as Applied to Continuing Medical Education Enduring Materials. The author, Mindy Jossefides, RD, Inter Tribal Council of Arizona, Inc. adapted the Arizona WIC Program Pediatric Height and Weight Protocol Manual used successfully to train health professionals for 10 years. She created the American Indian and Alaska Native Pediatric Height and Weight Study training program and test, to incorporate the latest information on pediatric height and weight measures. The target audience for this activity is physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, and pharmacists working at Indian Health Service (IHS) facilities.

    Overall Goals of This Activity:
    1.   The student will be able to identify acceptable and unacceptable measuring equipment for weighing and measuring infants and children.
    2.   The student will be able to identify the correct procedure for taking a recumbent length measure on infants and small children.
    3.   The student will be able to identify the correct procedure for taking a standing height measure on children and adolescents.
    4.   The student will be able to identify the correct procedure for weighing infants and children.
    5.   The student will be able to identify the correct procedure and common errors in reading and recording measurements on data collection sheets.
