Why We're Here
We are working to identify and prevent occupational and environmental illness and injury in Oregonians.
The Environmental and Occupational Epidemiology program focuses on the identification, intervention and prevention of occupational and environmental illnesses and injuries to Oregonians.
We conduct surveillance on reportable environmental illnesses and targeted occupational injuries and diseases, and provide information and education on preventive strategies about environmental health risks to the public and health providers. Our mission is to improve the safety and health status of all Oregonians.
Making A Difference
- Our programs are designed to reduce the number of occupational and environmental injuries and illnesses by defining, investigating and analyzing the problem, designing targeted prevention strategies, and providing education to the public and industry.
- Other investigations and consultations relate to inquiries about electromagnetic fields, cancer clusters, health effects due to spills of hazardous materials, exposure to unvented appliances, and other conditions that may occur.
