The Senate’s Appropriations Committee recently approved the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill (S. 3182).  I am happy to let you know that I asked that funding be included for the G.R.E.A.T. Program in San Bernardino.  This funding is intended to support the  school-based partnership that provides Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.) and case management to high-risk youth.

Earlier this year, I was proud to visit with the first class to graduate from the G.R.E.A.T. program in San Bernardino. The community of San Bernardino has worked hard to provide a safe and productive environment for its children and to prevent further gang violence. This funding will help them continue to expand their efforts and provide our youth with a brighter future.

This bill still has several steps to go before it becomes law.  However, having the program included at this initial stage is a very important step.  You can count on me to continue to work for federal funding for this important program that will serve the residents of San Bernardino.
