Virtual Private Network (VPN)

A VPN is a network built for the private use of a particular institution over a shared public infrastructure.

Two groups of people can benefit from the VPN services offered by LBLnet:

  • those with Cable or DSL who need an LBNL IP address in order to make use of network resources at the Lab
  • those with Cable or DSL who need their data to be encrypted and authenticated
