"Colors of the Sun"

Target: Grades 5-8

Length: 22 minutes

You will learn that the visible spectrum is only a part of what our sun, a star, emits within the electromagnetic spectrum. Students will also study how astronomers use a special tool (spectroscope) to learn more about objects that are far away, and observe how white light can be refracted to form a color spectrum that has a pattern. Additionally, students will see how other careers are connected to spectroscopy, while understanding how technological design can help scientists to better understand our Earth, our Sun, our solar system and the universe around us.
