I don't know about everyone else, but SDS (Supercell Deprivation Syndrome) is starting to set in for me. It's not like it hasn't already, for example, I contemplated chasing after a tornado warned supercell in the Bronx recently, not a good idea.
But anyway, the second season is quickly approaching and I was wondering what everyone's thoughts about it. Right now it's quiet but any guesses as to when it will come about (other than the obvious climatological answer)? How strong... [Read More]

It seems a new EJSSM (http://ejssm.org) article written by Scott Blair, Derek Deroche, and Albert Pietrycha about the observations of the 21 April 2007 Tulia tornado inadvertently collected by Eric Nguyen and Amos Maggliocco is now online. Evidently the 194 mb pressure deficit and 50 m/s wind sampled by their sensors held up to scientific scrutiny, and the graphs depicting these data are a must-see. I know we have seen discussions about traditional chases on this, but don't remember any regarding tropical systems. We've all seen great footage from some of you, but I am wondering about some of the stories behind the scenes. Thoughts?
