Second Notice of Proposed Rulemaking Closed

On October 18, 2006, the U.S. Department of Labor proposed rules concerning management of the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) Reform Act of 2002. A Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) in the Federal Register presents guidelines for the administration of the Alternative Trade Adjustment Assistance (ATAA) program. The ATAA program provides benefits to eligible older workers, for whom retraining may not be appropriate, to accept reemployment at a lower wage and receive a wage subsidy.

First Notice of Proposed Rulemaking Closed

On August 25, 2006, the U.S. Department of Labor proposed rules concerning management of the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) Reform Act of 2002. A Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) in the Federal Register lays out changes that would ensure the administration of TAA programs will be more aligned with the employment and training services offered through the nation’s One-Stop service delivery system established by the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA)
