On October 18, 2006, the U.S. Department of Labor proposed rules concerning management of the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) Reform Act of 2002. A Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) in the Federal Register presents guidelines for the administration of the Alternative Trade Adjustment Assistance (ATAA) program. The ATAA program provides benefits to eligible older workers, for whom retraining may not be appropriate, to accept reemployment at a lower wage and receive a wage subsidy.

On August 25, 2006, the U.S. Department of Labor proposed rules concerning management of the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) Reform Act of 2002.
