Innovation & Industry

Innovation is about place-based innovation capacity—the ability to innovate not once, but over and over again, across industries and diverse communities all over the world. This is the new competitive frontier. And Oregon is well-poised to compete.

Industry clusters
Cluster and sector strategies build on existing economic development efforts and strengthen Oregon's economy by clearly defining needs. These strategies enable the state to provide a more comprehensive and coordinated package of services to businesses. The department supports business clusters by aligning all partners in support of clusters and sectors enabling the state to better respond to the needs of business. more information

Sustainability
Sustainable development embodies the basic principle that a strong economy, a healthy environment and thriving local communities are mutually dependent. One cannot be sustained without the others. The department has adopted a Sustainability Plan as part of the agency's overall strategy—the foundation for its policies, programs and practices.
