Modular 4th Infantry Division Trains for Future

The transformation of the new modular 4th Infantry Division carries through and adopts the Army strategic vision for the future. The dramatic restructure of the division reflects the paramount efforts towards this vision. The old division-based Army from the Cold-War era is now brigade-based. The old legacy divisions were each unique in their designs and capabilities, but the units now mirror one another in their designs and capabilities. The 4th Infantry Division is training and preparing soldiers to meet this new mission with new skills and capabilities.

Unit's Mission Changes in Transition

FORT HOOD, Texas, March 9, 2005 – The transformation into a modular brigade unit of action became effective Dec. 16 for the soldiers of 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. One of the units undergoing a dramatic restructuring as a result of the transformation is 3rd Battalion, 66th Armor who became 7th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment.  Story

Centers Enhance Modular Capabilities

FORT HOOD, Texas, March 9, 2005 – The 4th Infantry Division set up the first of its new tactical centers during a command post exercise at the battle simulation center here for a weeklong exercise. The purpose of the exercise, and upcoming command-post exercises, is to test, improve and enhance the division’s digital and modular capabilities.  Story

Soldiers Simulate Battlefield Conditions

Team Implements Hand-to-Hand Combat

FORT HOOD, Texas, March 9, 2005 – The 4th Brigade Combat Team continues to work to forge well-rounded and combat-ready soldiers with the implementation of hand-to-hand combat training once a week in place of normal physical training. Soldiers train to develop an understanding of the physical and emotional strain of hand-to-hand fighting prior to actual combat.  Story

Soldiers Prepare with Lifesaving Skills

FORT HOOD, Texas, March 9, 2005 – Each week, a new group of soldiers acquire a new set of skills through a weeklong combat lifesavers course in preparation for deployment later this year. The reason for the training is to augment the number of combat medics.  Story
