The Coast Guard's heritage is deeply rooted in our seagoing traditions and service history. I challenge each of you to further this rich heritage through your commitment to excellence in meeting the challenges and demands you will face this assignment. Our service offers no better learning environment than aboard a multi-mission cutter like VENTUROUS. As crewmembers, each of us play a vital role in delivering professional service to the public to which we are accountable. VENTUROUS' operational readiness must always be maintained at the highest achievable level; we as crewmembers must have the necessary skills and training to perform our jobs; and the cutter's equipment must be maintained to operate properly. As your commanding officer, I am committed to providing an environment where each of you is treated with fairness, dignity and compassion. My goal is to encourage and harness your energy and creativity by empowering each of you to better VENTUROUS and yourselves throughout your tour.
