The area just north of the parking lot was burned in 2005. At first the area looked like a war zone, but within just a few months glorious green appeared. Areas that have recently been burned often look greener than other parts of the park.

Between October 2006 to September 2007, volunteers put in 2,223 hours restoring the plant communities of Muir Woods and Redwood Creek. That’s an average of approximately 43 hours/ week of volunteer service!
