Single Sign-On Access to MCMIS, EMIS, L&I and DataQs Ensures Better Access to Crucial Safety Data and Improved Decision Making

FMCSA has launched the FMCSA Portal, the first phase of the COMPASS program, a multi-year information technology and business process transformation project. The initial release provides single sign-on access to four key safety systems (the Motor Carrier Management Information System, the Enforcement Management Information System, the Licensing & Insurance System and the Data Quality System) via a single password and user ID. Better access to crucial safety data will allow FMCSA and State enforcement personnel to make better decisions, identify high-risk carriers and drivers more effectively, and apply a wider range of interventions to correct high-risk behavior sooner. The improved access to information will also allow carriers to focus more on operating safely and efficiently.

Users can continue accessing MCMIS, L&I, and DataQs through existing interfaces for a short period of time. (Effective May, 2008, EMIS is available only through the FMCSA Portal.) After that time, users will be required to register for a Portal password, and re-register for MCMIS, L&I, and DataQs. We will notify users about the registration deadlines as soon as those dates are available.
