SAMHSA Awards $8 Million for 42 Statewide Family Network Grants

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration today announced the award of 42 grants totaling about $8 million over three years to state-based organizations focused on improving programs serving children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances.

"Nearly every state has active family organizations dedicated to promoting systems of care that are responsive to the needs of children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances, and their families," said SAMHSA Administrator Terry Cline, Ph.D.  "These groups work tirelessly to ensure that the children with whom they work have every opportunity to thrive in their homes and communities."

The grant funds are used to improve services for children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances and their families by strengthening relationships among family members and coalitions of family members, policymakers and service providers – recognizing that family members are the best and most effective change agents.

The 42 awards under the Statewide Family Network Program are funded up to $70,000 per year in total costs. Continuation of these awards is subject to the availability of funds as well as the progress achieved by the grantees. Total funding for year one is $2,695,999. The grantees are:
