Executive Order 13221, issued by President Bush in July 2001, calls for Federal agencies to purchase products that use minimal standby power when possible. As directed by this Order, the Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) has developed a database of devices with low Standby Power.

View all FEMP product recommendations .The Indian Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) is hosting an international standby power consumption conference, organized in collaboration with the International Energy Agency (IEA), in New Delhi, India on April 2–3, 2008. The conference will feature a selection of speakers from around the world and provide an opportunity to share information about Asia-Pacific Partnership (APP) projects underway to address standby power; national and international trends in standby power consumption; proposals for policies to address standby power in India; recent national policy developments and future proposals; and developments in the standby power test procedure, IEC 62301. Participation in the conference is free.

The Mexican Ministry of Energy and the National Commission for Energy Saving (CONAE) is organizing an international standby power consumption workshop, in collaboration with the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Natural Resources Canada, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This workshop is part of the ongoing trilateral cooperation efforts among Mexico, Canada, and the U.S. through the Energy Efficiency Experts Group of the North American Energy Working Group (NAWEG). Participants at the workshop will include policy and decision makers, energy service providers, and manufacturers and distributors, among others.
