Consumer Price Index

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the CPI-U decreased 0.1 percent in August, following a 0.8 percent increase in July. The index for all items less food and energy increased 0.2 percent in August after increasing 0.3 percent in July. Full Text »

Real Earnings

September 16, 2008
Real average weekly earnings rose by 0.6 percent in August 2008. This increase stemmed from a 0.4 percent increase in average hourly earnings combined with a 0.2 percent decrease in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W). Average weekly hours were unchanged. Real earnings were down 2.5 percent from a year ago. Full Text »
