Partnership with the Community
NWS, Media, Emergency Managers Team Up to Save Lives

Needless to say, the ramp up to Hurricane Dolly set the NWS Office in Brownsville abuzz with activity, starting on July 21st and culimating with nearly the entire staff, along with a number of media representatives, hunkering down on July 23rd, as the outer edge of the heaviest weather grazed Brownsville. Media representatives from around the Lower Rio Grande Valley, including one from Laredo, were staged in the media/conference room for up to 48 hours, and the office was on near constant communication with numerous emergency management personnel every step of the way.

Despite little sleep, these dedicated servants soldiered on, living on adrenaline (not to mention a lot of good food). All of those involved should pat themselves on the back for a job well done! As of this writing, no lives were lost directly from Dolly's passage. The entire staff at the NWS in Brownsville thanks everyone who worked with us to protect our communities! Below is a sampling of photographs of activity at the office.
