News From the Field Dr. Yong Shi Awarded NSF Grant

| The National Science Foundation awarded Dr. Yong Shi a grant for his project "MEMS Umbrella-Shaped Actuator with Active Structure for Medical Applications." The grant was approved on scientific/technical merit for three years and will total approximately $300,000. The objective of the research is to design, fabricate and test an umbrella-shaped micro-actuator based on an integrated micro/nanofabrication technique for thrombus retrieval in stroke therapy.
