Regional ConferencesEvery spring, one chapter from every AISES region hosts the region’s conference. Regional conferences provide an opportunity for college chapters, area high schools, and professionals to receive updates on AISES programs, activities, and upcoming events, as well as provide an opportunity for chapters within the region to communicate, network, and share ideas. Each participating college chapter delivers an in-depth report of their chapter’s completed activities and plans for upcoming events. Local and national professionals within a variety of fields provide workshops, seminars, and discussion groups about a wide variety of topics. Generally, each Regional Conference host develops a theme or focus area for the Regional Conference every year (environmental, bridging native cultures with science, etc.). The host of the following spring’s regional conference is determined at the Regional Student Caucus, held at the annual National AISES Conference. Chapters interested in hosting the regional conference indicate their interest in hosting, and make a verbal presentation regarding their resources, planning, and ability to host the conference. Each chapter is allowed one vote; the majority of votes determines the location of the regional conference. 2009 Regional Conferences Region 1 - TBD Region 2 Region 3 Region 4 Region 6 Region 7 - TBD
