Science & Technology EXPO 2009
Join us in inspiring students to pursue education and careers in science & engineering!

Your participation in the NAISEF Science and Technology EXPO encourages students in middle school and high school to consider degrees and careers in science and engineering. The EXPO will feature hands-on demos, interactive science displays, and informal science education. In a hands-on setting, organizations can showcase educational pathways to these exciting careers and demonstrate the excitement of studying science and engineering.

Participate in the EXPO!

  • Science and technology are fun!  Showcase the fun, excitement and creativity of science and engineering careers.  Create high energy hands-on learning environments.
  • Role model to students interested in science, engineering, math and technology!  Let students see professional scientists and engineers at work and help them envision themselves in such roles.

Together we can inspire the future generation of scientists and engineers!
EXPO Registration will open in August 2008. For more information on becoming an EXPO participant, contact Cristy Davies at (505) 765-1052 x108 or email: cristy@aises.org.

Special Awards
Take the opportunity to award a student’s mastery of skills and subject by sponsoring a special award. Special awards are given in addition to the category awards and allow individuals and organizations to recognize specific skills, research, and categories. It is also a way of showing appreciation for the work that the participant has done and encourages further exploration.

  • All special award paperwork must be submitted before the deadline
  • New in special awards this year, an individual minimum award amount applies

Please contact April Armijo at (505) 765-1052 x109 or email aarmijo@aises.org if you are interested in sponsoring a special award.

2008 NAISEF "Mission: Success"

The National American Indian Science and Engineering Fair (NAISEF) is an AISES K-12 educational initiative that supports the development of American Indian/Alaskan Native students in mathematics, science, and engineering.  The Fair provides a learning experience that promotes academic and cultural enrichments for students.  In view of that, this year's NAISEF was opened with a group of traditional Eagle, Deer, and Butterfly dancers from the Pueblo of Laguna.

The event included an expo of vendors with demonstrations in fields such as astronomy, energy & transportation, and an on-going math competition.  Participants also got to unwind with a school spirit poster session and a DJ dance the evening after judging.

This year, AISES took its own step forward with technology.  The awards ceremony was streamed live over the Internet so that if friends and families of the participants were unable to attend, they could still take part in their students' achievements.  The clips of the awards ceremony can be found on the sidebar to the right, so that anyone who missed it will be able to view the array of student winners and awards.  The list of the 2008 Awardees is also to the right.

The Fair was well attended by 373 students from 13 states and 2 Canadian provinces, with a total of 56 schools represented.  The projects, students, teachers, sponsors, judges, and guests came together to represent the 2008 NAISEF theme, "Mission: Success," and it was a success!

AISES would like to thank Action 7 News Meteorologist, Jason Stiff, for his outstanding coverage of the 2008 NAISEF in Research Rocks and for his presence as the Master of Ceremonies.

We hope to see you next year in St. Paul, Minnesota!
