Other Department of Defense Web site Searchs:

The DoD GILS Web site is no longer operating.

A new site, the DoD Web Sites Search, http://www.dtic.mil/dtic/search/dod_search.html, offers more functional and advanced search capabilities not offered on DoD GILS.  This new site, developed by DTIC, provides public access to DoD Web content and offers:

Relevance sorting of results and six other search options including date, page size and title searching;

DoD Web sites search by DoD agencies, services and Combatant Commands;

DTIC Science and Technology (S&T) search of the entire DTIC S&T collection of over one million publications;

DoD-wide S&T search of public access research reports within DTIC S&T, DoD labs and other DoD S&T collections;

Links to other search engines, including Science.Gov, Google and FirstGov.Gov;

Federated searching, a tool to help the DoD community access pertinent S&T information using a wide range of sources; and

Organizations can use this DTIC search for their own Web sites without maintaining individual search capabilities. This is a cost effective way to comply with the OMB guidance of 17 December 2004 that requires organizational Web sites to provide a search capability.  DoD Web Sites Search also offers an easy way to add a DoD Web site to the database.
