Rhesus Macaque Genome Sequencing: Macaca mulatta
The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) currently supports a rhesus macaque genome sequencing project, co-led by the Baylor College of Medicine Genome Sequencing Center, the Washington University Genome Sequencing Center, and the Joint Technologies Center/The Institute for Genome Research (JTC/TIGR), that aims to produce between 5- and 6-fold sequence coverage of the rhesus macaque (Macaca mulatta) genome using a mix of whole genome shotgun sequencing (WGS) and Bacterial Artificial Chromosome (BAC)-based sequencing strategies.
