Job openings rates by industry in September 2006

On the last business day of September 2006, there were 4.1 million job openings in the United States and the job openings rate was 2.9 percent.

The job openings rate did not change significantly between August and September in any industry or region. The industries with the highest job openings rates in September 2006 were education and health services (3.8 percent), leisure and hospitality (3.8 percent), and professional and business services (3.7 percent).
