   Award Amount

Will ETA consider a proposal with a budget of under $500,000?  Over $2 million?
Yes.  The SGA states that it is anticipated that individual awards will range in amount from $500,000 to $2 million; however, this does not preclude ETA from funding grants at either a lower or higher amount, or funding a smaller or larger number of projects, based on the type and the number of quality submissions.  Applicants are encouraged to submit budgets for quality projects at whatever funding level is appropriate to the project. However, they should be aware that ETA is looking to make awards within the $500,000 - $2 million range.

Will grants be awarded at the amount requested or will it be possible to receive a partial award?
At this time, ETA does not anticipate reducing the amount requested by applicants under the Community-Based Job Training Grant SGA.  However when making grant awards, ETA may need to modify the amount requested based on urban, rural, and geographic balance; industry balance, the availability of funds; and proposals that are most advantageous to the government.

What is the expected date of award notification and receipt of funds?
We expect award notification to be made sometime in late 2007.  All award notifications will be posted on the ETA Web site, (http://www.doleta.gov).  Non-selected applicants will be notified by mail.

   Period of Performance

Is the award range up to 36 months of the grant or an annual amount?
The award range is for the entire period of performance for the grant and is not an annual amount.

Will there be an opportunity to request no-cost extensions beyond the approved period of performance?
ETA may elect to exercise its option to award no-cost extensions to grants for an additional period, based on the success of the program and other relevant factors, if the grantee applies, and provides a significant justification for, such an extension.

  Multiple Applications

Can a community college submit more than one grant application?  Are there any limitations on the number of applications that a community college can participate in?
A community college may submit multiple applications (provided that each application is different) or be partners in other applications.  However, please note that in addition to the ranked scores, ETA also accounts for other factors such as urban, rural, and geographic balance and industry balance in selecting awards.

  Second Round

Will there be a second Solicitation for Grant Applications for Community-Based Job Training Grants in 2007?

$125 million was approved for Community-Based Job Training Grants in Fiscal Year 2007.  This $125 million Solicitation for Grant Applications will be the only one in 2007.
