Office of Disability Employment Policy Resources
In the FY2001 Department of Labor appropriation, Congress approved an Office of Disability Employment
Policy (ODEP) to be headed by an Assistant Secretary. ODEP's mission is to provide leadership to
increase employment opportunities for adults and youth with disabilities.
SBA Resources for Veterans The mission of the Small Business Administration's Office of Veterans Business Development is to maximize the availability, applicability and usability of all administration small business programs for Veterans, including Service-Disabled Veterans, Reserve Component Members, and their Dependents or Survivors. The Office provides access to business training, counseling, technical assistance and mentoring to eligible veterans.
Temporary Assistance to Needy Families
The final rule that governs key provisions of the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program. The Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (PRWORA) (Pub. L. 104-193), as amended, is the welfare reform law that established the TANF program. TANF is a block grant program designed to make dramatic reforms to the nation's welfare system by moving recipients into work and turning welfare into a program of temporary assistance. TANF replaced the national welfare program known as Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training (JOBS), and Emergency Assistance programs.
The Welfare to Work (WtW) Grants Program provides federal funding to states and local organizations to help welfare recipients and other low-income parents move into employment, stay employed, and improve their economic situation.
