John F. Seiberling Federal Building
Akron, Ohio, 1975

The John F. Seiberling Federal Building, located on a two-acre site bounded by Main and Market Street in the Cascade urban renewal area of Akron, was dedicated on June 20, 1975. The building has five stories and a penthouse above the plaza and four levels below. The exterior of the building is a Rockville granite with bronze tint windows.

The building design was planned to integrate with future development of the Cascade area. Two vehicle tunnels pass through the building for use by developers south of the building, and the landscaped plaza can be extended the length of the renewal area.

The architects, Tuchman and Canute, won a National Architectural Excellance Award of Merit for the design of the building. Construction of the facility was accomplished by the Ernest Alessio Construction Company of Akron.
