NLM will change one of the ways users find consumer health information in PubMed though subsets. Currently a user may apply the following search strings to retrieve consumer health information on a given subject.

[SEARCH TERM] + consumerj [sb]

[SEARCH TERM] + jsubsetk

NLM will retire consumerj [sb] in January 2008. This subset was created as a temporary search string by NLM for MedlinePlus searches. NLM will keep jsubsetk which retrieves a group of MEDLINE consumer health journals on a given subject. To help users with the change, NLM has converted jsubsetk to retrieve consumerj [sb] as well as the MEDLINE consumer health journals.
