| The CERT program is under the auspices of the Fire Dept. The initial goal was to have about 40 trained members, with each in a small area of the Village to be a point of contact to the citizens in the areas. There have been approximately 7 classes held with a total of 70 students graduating the classes.
The team has assisted the Police, Fire and Public Works depts on several occasions and also have assisted at several community festivals.
The team has also had informational booths setup at community events.
In 2004 3 members were deployed with FEMA under the Citizen Corps activiation to assist in the Hurricane efforts. This past season (2005-2006) one member was deployed with FEMA and one with a FEMA contractor to assist with the relief efforts.
Monthly meetings are held to keep members for training and keeping them informed. |
