| We have been training our community since CERT was adopted by Payson in 1994 and have tried to make it a more complete education within the parameters of CERT duties. We even
taught a terrorism awareness module before it became officially part of the training program.
Payson CERT has worked with the community, schools and churches to offer perparedness information and make the program an asset in our community.
Payson CERT has been utilyzed in sandbagging during flooding, traffic direction, running emergency communications, sheltering with the Red Cross, running a feeding operation for fire crews during a forest fire, guarding critical city facilities pre-Y2K and assiting the Red Cross in the post 9/11 recovery efforts in New York City and New Jersey.
We continue to run our program with unpaid volunteer instructors so the classes can be offered to our community without charge. |
