| The Steuben County Citizen Corps Council graduated their first Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class on Tuesday, March 8, 2005. Because of the large geographical nature of Steuben County it was decided by the Citizen Corps Council, that the CERT class would be taught as an independent emergency preparedness course and not to develop formalized teams at this time. The course is being taught to help residents identify ways to help themselves during
emergencies- particularly major disasters where individuals may have to help themselves for a period of time. The Steuben County Office of Emergency Services facilitates the program with assistance from various other community agencies such as the Red Cross, Public Health, Bath Veterans Administration, and Finger Lakes SPCA. |
