| Desoto Parish Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is currently playing a very important role in disaster Relief efforts for Desoto Parish, we currently have 10 operating shelters parish wide. Desoto Parish has housed 347 people in public shelters and a host of in home shelters. I would like to thank all of the CERT-Team Members for a job well done and for all the volunteer hours that have been dedicated on a daily basis for Hurricane Katrina Relief. Our CERT Teams have helped in Shelters: preparing meals, transporting people for showers, establishing and distributing supplies, medical triage, Registration for children in school, Acquiring Foodstamp, FEMA & Redcross assitance for needy families. DP CERT-Director, LaTarsha Shelton also took part in a three parish Tour of shelters, the purpose of the tour, the make sure the people had or were in the process of getting what ever needs meet. DP-CERT is very proud to announe moving our first family in a 3-bedroom complex; A Husband, wife a children. Desoto Parish CERT-Team "
