Cert Description |
The Rogers Fire Department is offering Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training. The course is designed to teach individuals how to take care of themselves and others in case of natural or manmade disasters that may overwhelm local emergency resources. The course will cover administering first aid to the injured, light search and rescue, preparing for disasters, basic fire fighting, disaster psychology and team organization. The course will be taught by members of the Rogers Fire Department who have training in CERT concepts from the Benton County (Arkansas) Department of Emergency Management.
Classes will be open to the public and will meet one night a week for 3
hours for a period of 7-8 weeks. Instruction will be in accordance with
established FEMA guidelines. Students can expect a mix of classroom
instruction as well as cognitive instruction. The class will end with a
final disaster simulation in which the students will manage a mock
disaster in its entirety. |
