Commercial Cedar Bough Harvest Season Shortened On Tiller Ranger District

Contact: Pam Robson, (541) 825-3100

TILLER, OR – August 18, 2008 – Beginning this year, commercial cedar boughs on the Tiller Ranger District will be available from October 1 until November 30. Permits will also be limited to one specific area rather than the previous choice of three areas on the district.

Shortening the season to eight weeks will allow district employees to better monitor bough harvest and manage the resource for future years' harvesting.

Cedar bough permits are $40 per ton of non-bloom and $60 per ton for Bloom. The permits are valid for seven days.

Cedar Boughs are primarily used in holiday decorations. "Bloom" is when it's producing small golden buds at the ends of the foliage.

For more information, you may contact Pam Robson at 541-825-3100 or probson@fs.fed.us.
