The Umpqua National Forest Celebrates its Centennial

You are invited to a celebration that has been 100 years in the making. The Umpqua National Forest is celebrating 100 years of caring for the land and serving people. As part of our celebration, we developed this area of our forest web site to include our history, as we know it, complete with historic photographs. You can also find out about the celebrations we have planned this year and take a fun Forest Ranger Exam from 1908. Enjoy the site and join us for our centennial!

We protect resources and people from wildfires. Our forest provides habitat for at least 18 fish species, 66 mammal species, 236 bird species, and 27 reptile and amphibian species. We manage 72,043 acres of wilderness, 54 developed campgrounds, 350 miles of all-season trails, and 1,150 miles of roads maintained for car travel. We met our timber target last year and are on track for meeting it again this year.
We're planning a long celebration of our centennial that involves our communities, employees, volunteers, retirees, business partners, and visitors. We hope you join us for our centennial!
