Derwin Gray, M.D., joins EVMS Board of
Visitors — The City of Chesapeake has appointed Derwin Gray, M.D., to the Board of Visitors of
Eastern Virginia Medical School.
Gray will complete the unexpired term of John
W. Brown, who was named to the Chesapeake
Circuit Court bench. Gray is vice president of
the Virginia Center for Women and president of
the medical staff at Chesapeake Regional Medical
Center.

CONRAD receives $100 million for microbicide
development —
EVMS received the largest grant in the school’s
history September 8 when the U.S. Agency for
International Development awarded the school’s
CONRAD (Contraceptive Research and Development)
program $100 million to continue its development work on microbicides.

Students begin career journey with White Coat
Ceremony —
EVMS on Friday officially welcomed its newest
class of 115 up-and-coming physicians into the
medical community with the annual White Coat
Ceremony.
The occasion serves to foster strong moral and
professional standards within the atmosphere of
learning at EVMS.
