Mission

To develop and transfer the science-based knowledge of soil resource management needed to ensure abundant and affordable food, feed and fiber for the Nation while protecting our soil, water and air resources.

The research components of this program are:

• Soil Conservation and Restoration
• Nutrient Management
• Soil Water
• Soil Biology
• Production and Sustainable Soil Management Systems

This program also encompasses the multi-location Renewable Energy Assessment Project (REAP) which examines the impact of residue removal for biofuel production on soil.
