The Director
of Facilities serves as staff advisor to the Regent assigned to chair
the Facilities portion of the Board's agenda. Additionally, the Director
of Facilities works closely with the campus architects and planners, physical
plant directors, and other campus administrators.
The Director
of Facilities is responsible for providing professional advice to the
Board on all matters relating to planning, construction and maintenance
of space and on matters involving prudent management of the physical inventory.
This responsibility includes recommendations on legislative requests for
capital improvements and repair/rehabilitation budgets, reviewing written
programs for new or remodeled space, selecting and negotiating fees with
architects and engineers, reviewing drawings and specifications, conducting
space inventories, gathering utilization data, and long-range planning.
Other important
responsibilities include maintaining a close liaison with the Legislative
Joint Committee for Building Construction, the Department of Administration, and other State Agencies.
