Microsoft Excel is a software application that offers three distinct processes for managing data: spreadsheet, database and graphing. The primary feature, spreadsheet, is a number-crunching tool allowing for sophisticated calculations such as budgets, finances, inventories or any task that is numerically oriented. The database and graphing functions allow for selecting, retrieving, viewing and charting data that is contained within the spreadsheet mode.
