Gov. Schwarzenegger Applauds $70 Million Private Gift to
California Community College Students

 Governor Sschwarzenegger and Bernard Osher  Chancellor Woodruff 

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger joined with California Community Colleges (CCC) Chancellor Diane Woodruff today to announce an unprecedented commitment of $70 million from the Bernard Osher Foundation to support private scholarships for California's community college students. The commitment is made as part of the Osher Initiative for CCC students and represents the single largest gift to a community college system in the nation and one of the largest gifts ever made to higher education.  read more... | Audio (7.5 mb)

“I am very pleased to announce that Woodland Community College is now officially the 110th college in our community college system,” said Chancellor Diane Woodruff. “Woodland Community College (WCC) received notice of full accreditation yesterday from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Chancellor Diane Woodruff announced that Vice Chancellor Tod Burnett has been appointed as the 9th president of Saddleback College. The South Orange County Community College District Board of Trustees announced last night that Dr. Burnett will succeed Dr. Richard D. Senator Jack Scott Selected as Next Chancellor of California Community Colleges - May 8, 2008 
After concluding an extensive national search, the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges unanimously selected State Senator Jack Scott to be the 14th Chancellor of the state community college system. Dr. Scott will officially assume his new role as Chancellor of the 109-college system on
January 1, 2009, after completing his Senate term at the end of 2008.
