Federal Register Publishes 2004/2005 United States Government Manual
Washington, DC…Archivist of the United States John Carlin announced today the publication of the 2004/2005 edition of The United States Government Manual, the official handbook of the Federal Government.
The new 692-page Manual provides up-to-date information about the missions, programs, and activities of Federal agencies, as well as the names of top officials of each agency in the Bush administration and listings of U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives. It also contains other useful information on the legislative, judicial, and executive branches of the Government and has comprehensive name and agency/subject indexes.
A special feature of this invaluable book is the Sources of Information section, which lists addresses and telephone numbers for each agency for employment, Government contracts, publications, films, and other services available to the public.
In addition, the volume contains agency organizational charts, a list defining commonly used Federal abbreviations and acronyms, and a detailed section on Federal agencies that have been terminated, transferred, or changed in name since March 1933.
The Manual has been compiled and published by the Office of the Federal Register of the National Archives and Records Administration since 1948.
The 2004/2005 Manual (Stock Number 069-000-00154-8) may be purchased for $52.00 from the Superintendent of Documents, Government Printing Office (GPO).
