I applaud the Senate for confirming Uttam Dhillon as the director of the Office of Counter Narcotics Enforcement at the Department of Homeland Security. The Office of Counter Narcotics Enforcement was created to formulate policies that unify the department's counter narcotics activities.

Uttam brings unique expertise and valuable experience to this important role, having most recently served as Associate Deputy Attorney General at the Department of Justice. He will serve as the primary policy advisor to the Secretary for department-wide counter narcotics issues and he will be responsible for coordinating efforts to monitor and combat connections between illegal drug trafficking and terrorism.

Uttam appreciates the power of integrated planning and coordination among law enforcement partners, and I look forward to his many contributions at the department.
