Postdoctoral Training Opportunity
DNA Repair: The National Institute on Aging (NIA), a major research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), is recruiting for a postdoctoral position in the Laboratory of Molecular Gerontology (LMG) of the Intramural Research Program (IRP). Projects will involve biochemical, molecular, and cellular approaches, as well as mouse models, to define the mechanisms of base excision and single-strand break DNA repair (BER/SSBR). The current focus is on (i) the function(s) of specific repair factors in the processing of endogenous DNA damage; (ii) the contribution of BER/SSBR in resistance to clinical DNA-damaging agents; (iii) the role of BER capacity in age-related disease (namely cancer and neurodegeneration).
The candidate must have a Ph.D. or M.D. in a relevant field with five years or less of postdoctoral experience. Prior training using molecular biology and mammalian cell culture techniques is mandatory. Salary is commensurate with experience and accomplishments. Additional information regarding the NIA IRP and the LMG is available at the following Web sites: http://www.grc.nia.nih.gov and http://www.grc.nia.nih.gov/branches/lmg/lmg.htm. The position will become available on or about October 1st, 2008 or thereafter.
To be considered, applicants should send a curriculum vitae, along with names of three references to David M. Wilson, III, at wilsonda@grc.nia.nih.gov. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
